Hriday's journey
Hriday Rishi is a Brazilian pantam/handpan maker. He was born in 1989 and raised among monks in spiritual communities and eco-villages in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Juiz de Fora, Porto Alegre and Brasília. This nurturing environment fostered a profound connection to nature and its relationship with all sentient beings.
In 2006, Hriday became involved in bio-construction and permaculture, building sustainable structures and honing his skills as a craftsman. In this period, he was also introduced in the devotional chants of Tantra Yoga, marking the beginning of a musical journey as a bridge to the divine.
In 2012, Hriday had his first contact with the pantam. At that time, it was a rare and exclusive instrument, appearing almost unattainable, yet its combination of percussive and melodic performance made a lasting impression.
He lived in India from 2018 to 2019 as a spiritual nomad, performing as a devotional singer with a repertoire of over four hundred songs of the Prabhat Samgiita. In this years he had the opportunity to share experiences with many practitioners of Indian classical music, enriching his knowledge and inner awareness.
Back in Brazil, Hriday realized he could unite his lifelong passions for music, spirituality and craftsmanship by becoming a pantam maker. So, he single-handedly built his own workshop and developed his own tools.
Soon, Rasa Pantam was born with the mission of sharing these experiences in the form of world-class instruments.
